Each quarter exceptional volunteers are nominated from across USO Houston's services, based upon their
selfless service in support of our troops and their families. The
Volunteers of the Quarter for the first quarter of 2014 are:
- Pat Keen, Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) USO Center. Pat has been a volunteer at the IAH USO Center for over four years. During that time, she's been a dependable volunteer, delivering cheer and hospitality to all guests who visit the Center. Pat takes the lead on organizing the Center and sorting donations received from generous partners.
- Leo Foisner, Hobby Airport (HOU) USO Center. Leo has volunteered weekly at the HOU USO Center for year. He's our supply manager, making sure the Center is always fully stocked with snacks and beverages donated by Southwest Airlines Provisioning - Hobby.
- Jim Young, Ellington Field Joint Reserve Base (EFJRB) USO Center. Jim volunteers diligently at both the HOU USO Center and our new EFJRB USO Center, in addition to leading fundraising efforts for USO Houston at his VFW and American Legion posts.
- Jim Gummelt, USO Houston Events. Jim was the first person who all 1,081 Team USO BBQ tent guests encountered at this year's Houston Rodeo BBQ Cook-off. He sported his boots and manned the entrance of the tent all three days, from start to finish.
